The Crescent Room

Upon viewing the space with its low ceilings, we knew that a more intimate design was called for. The space is situated above the existing Blackbox Bar, which features cool steel and dark finishes. To contrast this, a warm tone embraces the space, and arches swoop the ceiling to lead the viewer’s eye to the main bar counter and picture window. As the user ascends from the bar below, a warm glow greets them at the staircase. The contrasting colors aim to draw the people to look up and explore the bar on the third floor. The arch element was called back to in this design to give it continuity with its predecessor. Playing with the different scales of arches in the bar, each creates a unique viewpoint that continuously draws the eyes to various corners. Directional lights also further enhance the curved elements to create a play of shadows throughout the room.
