One Top Office

Situating a 12-storey office building within Barangay Loyola Heights in Quezon City (QC), whose urban landscape as the city’s knowledge district has been steadily changing in the last 40 years, suggests a certain criticality to the project – as both a place of work and community in a premier education and commercial zone, and what this means in the 21st century. What is the true impact of an office building in this part of the city? What kind of impact is needed? How can architectural design pursue and push this impact?

Located in a complex site proximal to an intersection of major commercial avenues and roads, fronting a flyover, moreover bordering a residential subdivision to act as part of its main entry, OTO is envisioned by Atelier FIJI as an authentic ecological structure that endures as an inspirational offering to the Loyola Heights community that as the company and its constituents also grows within itself, shall root itself into and bloom with the fabric. From the use of true local material adobe stone as cladding to the critique and application of verticality engendering conviviality, FIJI explores the notion of the ‘Filipino Office’.
